Erasmus soundtrack

Here is a collection of songs that I feel were important or, at least, noticed by me and maybe by others fellows students in this last semester of intense studying. Here it is:

First of all, the #1 song of our Erasmus experience: I just call to say I love you by legendary Stevie Wonder.

Then right after, other anthem: Directions by Josh Rouse. Hope still playing in U Pecivalu ( our legendary hang around & party hard club, they miss us for sure! )

Other great song: Float On by Modest Mousse. Even thought we only heard it in U Peci in the very last night we were all together it was a must for much time. Frequent airplay in Polish radio (great radio), we even go lucky enough to hear it on the way back from Krakow to Ostrava. Very good song.

Head on by The Jesus and The Mary Chain. It stroked me like a blitz from the sky.

Humming Bird by Wilco. For sure, one of last year best albums.

Rocks by Primal Scream. It could be heard frequently in Desperados, but people don’t believe in me when I say they’re the best band live now playing.

Kissing the lipless by The Shins. Amazing stuff.

Now a bunch of hits that never missed their aim, the shooter was DJ Lukas, once again in U Peci:
A certain shade of green by Incubus. Specially to Gonçalo, one of my (and my br) favourites from this band.
Passenger by Iggy Pop. No comments.
London Calling by The Clash. Best band ever? Maybe yes. Hell, for sure yes. Ok, I can’t say that, but, probably, the best rock and roll album of all times. This one was for me!
Unfinished Sympathy & Teardrop By Massive Attack. The first one for me and the second for Rui.
Perfect Day by Lou Reed. Thank you.
Glory Box & Strangers by Portishead. They were happy and it was good.

I’d like to put here also Gomo, but it just made people laugh and say how simple and bad it was. But I like it dough. Very much indeed, Feeling Alive was our last summer song; great memories. But this post is about Erasmus in Ostrava.

For sure there are plenty more that I can’t remember now…but this will have to do for now. It’s a good soundtrack for good times. But the most important was the good friends and the good fun we had. Cheers mates! See ya’ll soon.

A minha temporada como estudante erasmus chegou ao fim, os proximos posts vao ser de reflecção, memórias, histórias que ficaram por contar...

Day #4 Farewell Trip

Hoje estamos em Viena, o bom tempo continua conosco. O Piedade ja so calca as botas novas, que comprou de proposito para a neve, quando viajamos porque nao tem lugar na mala.. O frio esse tambem continua conosco, fazendo-se notar bem. Ontem o que era para ter sido uma noite calma, relaxada, de preparacao para uma viagem que teria inicio as 5:00, sim é verdade!, tornou-se numa farra das grandes. Mas mesmo assim estou impressionado conosco, nao é que conseguimos cumprir o plano na totalidade e estamos em Vienna, mesmo que a viagem de bus de Cesky Krumlov ate Ceske Budejovice tenha sido um suplicio... sempre deu para por a malta atras de nos a rir. Mas a viagem de comboio foi uma beleza...foi sem duvida o melhor comboio que apanhei ate hoje para dormir.

Hoje temos muito sigthseeing para fazer, ja nos hospedamos no hostel (by the way, a recepcionista é uma querida) agora estamos preparados para palmilhar Viena...

Day #3 Farewell Trip

Estamos em Cesky Krumlov, e bonito, muito pitoresco. E o sitio ideal para trazer a namorada para um passeiozito...lol Fica a sugestao de uma viagem inesquecivel a dois> comecar em Paris, depois Praga, depois Cesky Krumlov, depois Vienna e finalmente Budapeste... se elas nao ficarem convencidas podem pensar em despacha/las (ou serem despachados) ou entao uma plasticazinha tambem ajuda! Ontem a noite foi morna, tambem a vida de turista cansa um pouco e nos tinhamos de acordar bastante cedo (6>60) Amanha vai ser pior, o despertador vai estar para as 6>00! Tuff Life!

Day #2 Farewell trip

Ca estamos em Praga, depois de ontem a noite termos ido a um concerto no famoso Roxy, que e mesmo a porta ao lado do nosso hostel, fomos dar um passeo pela cidade e pela avenida principal... ai fomos tentados pelo demo umas dezenas de vezes mas nao vacilamos perante a tentacao, fomos e somos pessoas dignas...lol a serio, e um abuso, uma pessoa nao da cinco passos sem que venham perguntar se queremos entrar num cabaret... xica!

Hoje foi dia para mais umas tours por ai, muito sigthseeing, etc... amanha autocarro as 7>45 para Cesky Krumlov...

Day #1 farewell trip

Estas meninas desde que ca chegaram nao pararam de se queixar com o frio, para dizer a verdade esta mesmo um frio do caracas, mas esta ceu limpo e um sol porreiro, ou pelo menos estava... O hostel tem nivel, depois de uma vizita pelos pontos turisticos de Praha vamos agora ver as atraccoes de duas pernas...

Ps> o Piedade esta a queixar/se, e que segundo ele, ele esta a queixar/se de tudo excepto frio... tem sido para aqui um constante vai e vem para o wc, parece que estava a guardar a bosta toda ca para Praha, pelo menos ja conhece uma boa meia duzia delas, mas sao boas diz ele...

Don't look back...

Its being hard, now that i'm one week away of going back home, not to look back and be sad, sad for leaving but never sad for what has happened here. Leaving Ostrava won't be easy but help is coming my away... from tomorrow on until next sunday I will be on vacations, and life will be easy and beautiful again...with little help from my friends!

• Ah, para chegar a Praha a tempo de ir esperar os meus amigos que vao chegar ao aeroporto de Praha vindos de Portugal vou ter de acordar as 4:45 para depois fazer +/- 300 Km de comboio, ou seja, vou ter de acordar mais cedo do que eles que veem de Portugal...
• Estranho, a umas semanas fui a Dum Kultury, a "casa cultural" de Ostrava, ver o filme Vera Drake, e um filme forte sobre a tematica das relacoes familiares e do aborto, mas o que me estranha mais e que so agora esta a estrear em Portugal! Regressei ontem da Polonia, Wroclaw mais concretamente, a viagem correu bem e foi engracada, e sempre uma aventura viajar nos comboios polacos. Hoje e tempo de recolher as ultimas notas, lavar a roupa e preparar/me para partir para Praha para a ultima tour antes de regressar a Portugal. Vou ter saudades de muita coisa...

E ja este fim de semana:

Super World Cup Paris 2005, esta e sem duvida a maior prova de judo do mundo, a excepcao dos jogos olimpicos e campeonato do mundo que tem outro peso emotivo, mas esta prova nao e de todo mais facil, na realidade este torneio apresenta/se todos os anos bastante forte, sendo por vezes mais dificil uma boa classificacao neste torneio porque todos os melhores lutadores estao ca e nao ha o problema das quotas por continentes. Este ano nao vou estar presente, ao contrario dos ultimos dois anos (por motivos de forca maior! o nosso tornei vai ser pelas terras checas) em que fui ate Paris sabe/se la como... Grandes viagens para ver um torneio... mas e um prazer ver aquele torneio. E no ano passado foi especial por dois motivos. Primeiro, e principalmente, porque o meu irmao entrou na prova, posso dizer que estava la carregado de orgulho a ve/lo lutar; e embora nao tenha ganho nenhum combate portou/se muito bem. Segundo, foi tambem um prazer ver o Pina a espetar dois kata gurumas no Larbi! eh eh, ganda pinta! Desta vez o meu irmao nao vai participar mas ficam aqui os votos de boa sorte para os portugueses que vao participar na prova.
